You might want a driver's license, motorcycle license, or perhaps a commercial driver's license (CDL). Cars - For those who want to drive cars and are under 18 years of age, an instructional permit will be required. For anybody else, this permit is actually optional. Motorcycles - Alternatively, a DDS knowledge test is necessary or else a knowledge test will be included within an approved motorcycle safety program (basic course). Again, not many people are aware that an instructional permit is optional. There's nothing stopping you from getting an endorsement or license without this permit. CDL - Finally, a commercial learner's permit (CLP) is required before then applying for a CDL.
